Once you have a Google account you may accesses the Webmaster tools here: www.google.com/webmasters/tools
Next, you should add your website by selecting “add a site”
You will be requested to verify your ownership of the site you wish to add.
You may do it with any of the following option:-
- Link to your Google Analytics account – This is probably the most recommended way since most of website owners use Google Analytics anyway. If you have not set a Google Analytics account yet, you may want to do it now.
- Upload an HTML file to your server – You will have to download a simple text file provided by Google and upload it into the root directory of your website. This can be easily done by using cPanel/File manager if your hosting provider provides you with one, or with an ftp command otherwise.
- Add a meta tag to your site’s home page – This is a bit harder to achieve when you use WordPress. But, if you have already installed WordPress SEO plugin al you have to do is copy and paste the string provided by Google into the WordPress SEO plugin dashboard.
After you do any of the above, click “Verify”. And that’s it! You are ready to use this great set of tools.
